MREMS & Middlebury College

MREMS and Middlebury College have been partnering since 2011 to educate, train, and certify students as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

Our partnership was the vision of Ed Sullivan (1945-2016), who served as Middlebury College’s Safety Coordinator for 18 years. After his retirement from the college, Sullivan joined MREMS and built what would be known as the MREMS / Middlebury College J-Term EMT Program. It received the Tiffany Nourse Saregent Engaged Partner Award in 2022.

We continue to partner with Middlebury College, providing opportunities for students seeking expand their knowledge of prehospital care and non-profit management.

Student Opportunities at MREMS

Want to Become an EMT?
MREMS offers EMT classes only at certain times of the year. Please visit our Provider Trainings page to see when upcoming EMT courses are scheduled. If there isn’t a class listed on our calendar, that means we do not have one scheduled at this time.

Check the Vermont EMS Training Calendar for other trainings.

Are you Pre-Med Track?
Looking for a way to expand your knowledge of prehospital care and obtain vital clinical skills during your time at Middlebury College? MREMS invites first-year students who are in a pre-med education track or interested in public safety careers to join our EMS Mentorship & Training program.

Interested in Non-Profit Management?
MREMS is looking for interns to support the work of our award-winning non-profit organization. You’ll gain hands-on experience in grant writing, public relations, community health education, and more.

Already an EMT?
Middlebury College students who already hold an EMT certification are welcome to continue their training and work alongside MREMS staff and volunteers.
