Middlebury Regional EMS is dedicated to serving our community through high-quality prehospital care, reliable emergency communications, specialized rescue services, and comprehensive health education.

By uniting these capabilities under one organization, we aim to be a cornerstone of public safety in Addison County—helping build a safer, more resilient, and better-prepared community.

Our Leadership

  • Kate Rothwell

    Executive Director
    Paramedic

    With over 20 years in EMS and a decade as a volunteer firefighter in Addison County, Rothwell has built her career around public safety. She first joined MREMS in 2013 as a paramedic and quickly rose through the ranks, serving as Training Officer and later Deputy Director. In 2019 she was appointed Executive Director, guiding the agency through a period of significant growth. Under her leadership, MREMS has become a strong, multi-dimensional nonprofit, recognized in 2022 as Vermont Ambulance Service of the Year by Vermont EMS.

  • Walker Randall

    Deputy Director
    Paramedic

    Randall, originally from Waitsfield, Vermont, found his passion for EMS in 2016 with Mad River Valley Ambulance. He went on to earn a degree in Emergency Medical Services Management from Springfield College and became a Nationally Registered Paramedic. Joining MREMS in 2021, he has worked to strengthen training, clinical care, and community partnerships. He also serves as a Disaster Medical Specialist with Vermont’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, VT-TF1.
